About Photoroom
Photoroom offers an AI-powered photo editing app used by millions of people. Their features for background removal and photo editing help consumers as well as developers. Alongside a large self-serve business running through Stripe, Photoroom sells enterprise API packages on annual contracts, each with its own negotiated volume and per-image pricing.
Challenge: Deals had to be built by hand in Stripe with plenty of nuance
Sales at Photoroom moves fast. Account executives build order forms in Juro using deal data from HubSpot, the customer signs, and the deal closes won. Processing all that demand was far from easy for Photoroom's revenue team.
Every signed contract triggered a Slack ping to Revenue Operations — and from there, complex and long contracts had to be built in Stripe by hand: a new customer record, a new subscription, a new invoice, field by field.
- Pricing math on every deal. Contracted prices had to be matched to prices in the catalog, adjusting for frequency, currency and discounts. New prices had to be created where missing.
- Three currencies, three bank accounts. Invoices had to carry remittance information for different bank accounts, based on payment currency.
- Contract data to record. Enterprise client tags, team IDs pulled from Photoroom's backend, tax IDs, and the service terms shown on the invoice memo all had to be looked up and entered by hand, deal by deal.
With increasing contract loads, the manual load only grew on a lean team — and every hand-typed field was a chance to get something wrong.
How Finrite's Contract to Billing Parser Helped
Photoroom's problem is exactly what Finrite's AI Contract to Invoice is built to solve. Finrite reads the signed contract itself and builds the Stripe objects to match what was actually agreed, then executes billing:
- Match or create: Existing Stripe customers and prices, so the catalog stays clean instead of accumulating duplicates.
- Handle complex billing: future billing dates, billing in arrears, and different net terms, without extra configuration.
- Calculate negotiated discounts and shows the amount off correctly on the invoice.
- Human review screen used for onboarding and training to ensure full confidence in our system.
- Hyper customizable: Finrite's configurable platform allowed for quick changes to incorporate upsells, mapping to internal systems and new pricing structures.
Life after Finrite: upload, an optional review, done
Photoroom's billing workflow now takes seconds instead of minutes and is confidently error-free. Signed contracts are uploaded, Finrite parses the customer, term dates, pricing, discounts and metadata. New customers, prices and discount coupons are created, if required. Results can be presented for human review, if required. Once it's confirmed, the customer, subscription and invoice are created in Stripe — segment tags, memo terms and correct bank details already in place.
"Finrite reads the contract directly, so what shows up in Stripe already matches it: the price, the currency, the terms. We're not rebuilding the deal from scratch anymore. This saves me a huge amount of time and ensures our billing is accurate."
Photoroom benefitted immediately:
- 0 billing mistakes Automated workflows with human review means no misbillings
- 15+ monthly hours saved About 20 minutes saved per complex contract adds up in peak invoicing months — time that now goes toward higher-value work instead of data entry.
- Data with a source of truth Stripe stores references to HubSpot and team data that created billing. Keeping data linked in now effortless.
