1. How to Use Our App (video tutorial)
- Always check completed jobs CSV reports to make sure failed updates are identified. Some or all subscriptions may not have updated, even if job status = completed.
- If possible, test changes on a small batch first. For scheduled changes, you can test in “run now” mode.
- Please reach out for 5,000+ subscription updates — we usually respond within 24 hours. Limits allow us to maintain reliable service.
- If you schedule a price change in the future, you must be subscribed to the app at the scheduled time for it to succeed
- Carefully review the following section on Caveats and Limitations to avoid billing errors
2. Caveats and Limitations
i. Subscriptions created by 3rd party platforms (e.g. Beehiiv, Wordpress)
Stripe subscriptions created by 3rd party platforms have additional steps and caveats. Please read section #3 below carefully.
ii. Stripe Subscription Schedules are not supported
If any of your subscriptions have Stripe Subscription Schedules applied, or you plan to apply them before your price update completes, updates will not complete successfully and your customers may see the original price revert.
We are working on supporting Subscription Schedules. Please reach out if interested.
iii. Updates are made without prorations, effective on the date you select
Price increases or decreases will only take effect from the subsequent billing cycle — customers will not be charged a prorated price increase or offered a prorated refund.
E.g. if you run a price update from $10 → $20 / month on the 15th of February for a customer whose billing cycle is the first of the month, there will be no updates to the $10 they were charged for February on Feb 1st, and they will be charged $20 from March 1st onwards.
We have a beta feature for auto-scheduling price changes to coincide with different billing cycles across customers. Please reach out if interested.
iv. Ensure you communicate with your customers about price changes
Our app does not notify customers of price changes — please ensure you follow rules required about advance notice for price changes and scheduled changes with sufficient notice.
Note these rules may differ from customer to customer based on their jurisdiction.
We have a beta feature for auto-notifying customers and measuring churn. Please reach out if interested.
v. Test mode usage
Test mode usage is limited to 100 subscription updates per job. Additional test mode updates will not take place.
vi. Filtering customers
If you use filters to target customers, data added after subscription lookups will not be used for updates - a new job will be required.
3. Subscriptions Created by 3rd Party Platforms (e.g. Beehiiv, Ghost, Wordpress)
Several platforms create subscriptions for their users via Stripe. If you use one of these platforms to create your subscriptions, we can still update your subscription prices. However, you will need to follow a few additional steps and precautions - see the video tutorial below.
- Provide restricted access keys: Stripe prevents apps from overriding subscriptions created by other 3rd parties. As such, we require you to share restricted access API keys (with the same permissions carried by our app) to make any updates. Our video tutorial covers how this works.
- Ensure your platform can support direct price changes from your account: 3rd party platforms (including named examples) may not expect Stripe subscriptions to be directly modified by their customers. Our app has the same effect as a subscription change you would trigger from the dashboard. If in doubt, reach out to your platform to ensure that revenue reporting or other workflows provided by your platform will not be adversely affected before using our app.
4. FAQs / Troubleshooting
I have very few subscriptions, but my app is stuck on “finding subs”
While “finding subs” usually takes no more than 2 minutes, on occasion it can take longer (even for a handful of subscriptions). If the app remains stuck on “finding subs” for more than an hour, please reach out to us.
Why does my job show up as “scheduled” when I select “run now”?
Please wait a few minutes if you see the “scheduled” status after selecting “run now”. This indicates the job is in progress and should complete shortly.
